ORIENT

The 2017 Bernina International Challenge  – ORIENT  – comes to Scotland, showing textile experiments and impressions with fabrics from the Turkmen bazaar.

A visit to Central Asia is like dipping into a mysterious, fairytale world. In the legendary bazaars one steps into another time where hundred-year traditions and craftsmanship are very much alive.

The challenge included mystery fabrics from an Eastern European country. Members of the Contemporary Quilt Group (a specialist group of the Quilters Guild of Great Britain) took part and their quilts will be exhibited alongside pieces from the Czech Republic, Poland and Germany.

The exhibition toured Eastern Europe and is now in the UK before heading to Germany in May 2018.
